Mary Dick, LMFTA is a Child Therapist in Raleigh, NC

CHILD, TEEN, AND FAMILY THERAPIST, RALEIGH NC

Hi! I’m Mary, LMFTA (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate)! I work with children, teens, adults, and their families. I am a huge advocate for my clients and will walk alongside them during their therapy journey.

I specialize in supporting children and adolescents through anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, self-esteem issues, grief, loss, parental divorce, and trauma. I incorporate a mixture of play therapy, grounding techniques, and coping skills into my work with children and teens.

Additionally, I work with adult individuals and couples, to help them navigate stressful life transitions and parenting dynamics. My primary focus is on creating a family culture in which everyone can thrive through enhanced connection and communication.

Outside of the therapy room, you can find me spending time with my partner and our sweet dog! I love spending time outdoors, eating good food, cooking, and baking.

COUNSELING APPROACH

My approach to therapy is a blend of experiential therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and attachment-based therapies. I also have training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for those who are wanting an evidence-based approach to processing trauma.

I utilize play therapy with my child clients as a means to help them express their thoughts and feelings in a developmentally appropriate way. Through play, I help children learn new coping skills and redirect problematic behaviors. This helps therapy feel less intimidating and even FUN for the kids I work with!

I’m committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for my therapy clients and would love to have the opportunity to work with you!

Mary Dick, LMFTA
